Jose Reyes Injured

I know this is not trade talk or reports about minor leagues but this is important Mets news. Jose Reyes had a setback and may need surgery, making it questionable if he returns to Spring Training, maybe even the regular season. All I can say is the Mets need to keep Jose Reyes despite all of these injuries. He is still young and he is still one of the best short-stops in the national league. They will not be able to find a better short-stop in a long time. Ruben Tejada and Reese Havens are going nowhere besides the slight possibility of Havens at second base. But my point is, the Mets must sign Reyes to an extension after he comes back and shows at least moderate production.

Mets best minor league player of the year award

The Mets best Minor league performer is Ike Davis. He had a 2 league average of .298 with 20 home runs. He was a no-doubter winner of the award.

Jason Marquis

Jason Marquis would fit perfectly as the Mets 2010 # 2 starter. He has a 3.78 ERA while his home team is at Coors Field, one of the Hardest Parks for a pitcher. Imagine what type of numbers he would put up at Citi field! He would fit perfectly in the Mets Rotation, and he wouldn't cost to much. He and Jason Bay would take the Mets to a championship.

Why not Matt Holliday?

Right now a lot of people are asking why am I not talking about Matt Holliday. There are plenty of reasons not to get Matt Holliday this offseason.

1. He's an agent of Scott Boras. this usually means bigger contracts, which the Mets don't want because of the whole Madoff scandal.

2. He only is good in hitter's ballparks. He did not hit power in Pitcher's parks, and power would be the reason the Mets would get him.

Even though there are only 2 reasons, Jason Bay would help the Mets more for less money.

Mets Should Get Bay In Free-Agency

The Mets should get Jason Bay in Free-agency. They need someone who will hit for power and have a decent average. He would fit perfectly batting fourth in the order, behind Wright, and in front of Beltran. His power is mostly to left field, so home runs won't be taken away because of the Mo's zone. He also would be moving from the American league to the National League, which lately has made players much better.
If they don't get Bay, which I would prefer, they should get Carl Crawford via trade. Even though Bay is about even with Crawford as a baseball player, you have to give up prospects or a Jose Reyes, whereas Bay would not cost any players. Though this is saying that the Rays resign Crawford which is very likely.
If somehow the Mets can't get either one of these players, then 2 #2 starters would be best. If the Mets do get Crawford or Bay, I also think the Mets should get Jason Marquis. If not they should get Joel Piniero.
I want to thank metsblog.com for the good Carl Crawford information.
